EA launched SimCity yesterday and
they fucked themselves. Now, I am not a network engineer or computer science major. I pat myself on the back when I line up the CPU correctly in the socket. What I am saying is, I don't know what it takes to launch a game and have everything functioning correctly but if these fucks would stop trying to make consumers play on a constant connection, maybe we wouldn't have these problems. It strikes my as the new flag held high for companies that want to come across as Nazis. Ubisoft had a great reputation with gamers, they then insisted on introducing Uplay. What's great about Uplay is that it attempts to protect Ubisoft's pocket books while
leaving you and I vulnerable to attack. Want to play Diablo III? How about,
fuck you. Even if you don't have these issues, want to play D3 on your flight? No. Oh man, I have an itch to go back and play Splinter Cell while I have some down time in the field. Negative. The best part? You can torrent some of these games and there are all kinds of work arounds to the DRM connection issue (Disclaimer: Illegally downloading software is bad and should not be done). So, publishers make paying consumers deal with bad DRM policies while the illegal download crowd plays the games with no time lost and no money payed out. Good call, guys.
